Meet Trek's Emonda ALR 4, a bike ready to make you a cyclist. It starts with Trek's 300 Series aluminum frame, which rides beautifully and is impressively low weight. Light is one thing, but what really sets the Emonda apart is the ride. The dialed geometry gives you that lively, yet stable feel that makes people get on their bikes in the first place. Trek didn't skimp on components either. A full 2x10-speed Shimano Tiagra gruppo and tubeless-ready Bontrager wheels grace the frame and blow the performance-to-value ratio out of the water.
For increased stiffness and improved steering precision, tapered head tubes (see image, on left) and forks pair an oversize lower steerer tube (usually 1 1/2-inch, see image, on right) with a standard diameter upper steerer tube (usually 1 1/8-inch). This combination sheds weight compared to straight 1 1/2-inch systems, and adds stability and stiffness when compared to straight 1 1/8-inch systems. The result is a bike that tracks better through corners while allowing for the use of standard stems.
